WW II Statistics

Basic static rating of the Second World War is by far the greatest war in history in terms of cost and resource people materiale.În all, 61 countries is 1.7 billion people, three quarters of world population took part. A total of 110 million people were mobilized for military service, more than half of the USSR (22-30 million), Germany (17 million), and United States (16 million). The largest number of staff on duty at any one time were: USSR 12500000, U.S. 1224500 21121x2315v 0; Germany 10.938 million, 8.72 million British Empire, Japan and China 7.139 million 5 million.

Most statistics of the war can only be estimate. Vast and chaotic war made impossible keep accurate lists. Some governments have lost control of information and some have resorted to their manipulation for political reasons. However, consensus is hard on the total cost of the war. In terms of money has been spent over $ 1 billion, which made it more expensive than all wars combined.

United States spent the most on the war, approximately $ 341 billion, including $ 50 billion borrowed Friendly resources which were distributed as follows: $ 31 billion UK, USSR $ 11 billion, China $ 5 billion and all the other 3 billion $. Expense of other participants (in U.S. dollars) were as follows: Germany $ 272 billion, the USSR $ 192 billion, UK $ 120 billion, Italy $ 94 billion and Japan $ 56 billion. Excepând United States and some of the less militarily active Allies, the money spent does not approach the true cost of war. Former Soviet government calculated that the USSR lost 30% of national wealth, while the exact spoils in the Soviet Union and Nazi occupied countries are incalculable. Total spending was estimated at Japan U.S. $ 562 billion.

It is clear that the major factor in the Allied victories was holding vast resources higher compared with those of Axis powers. All economic indicators attests the superiority - in labor, taxation manufacturer, raw materials, education, etc.. United States eventually exceeded all economic participants, but the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom have proved equally capable of producing weapons prestigious work of all kinds. Axis Powers could not hope to compete in the long run against the vast territories won in the first stages of the war.

Scientific and technological advances have made the unprecedented ferocity of war. It reached a level of inhumanity and horror unprecedented in human history. Civilians in war zones have become a large part of the fronts of struggle and suffering of disease, malnutrition and starvation often, cities and towns the destruction and permanent injury and death.

Air War participated greatly suffering civilians. Nazi air lightning on Warsaw in 1939 and Rotterdam in 1940 was followed by night bombing on London greater scale and other UK cities in 1940 and 1941. Command ordered the bombing of Britain in 1942 after a massive bombing campaign during the night against cities and towns of Germany, until 1944 the only reason Britain could then attack the heart of Germany. By the end of the war, many German towns and cities were reduced to ashes, with an increase in civilian deaths shots, explosions and direct-fire-storm.
Contrary to the expectations of many pre-war strategistii of air, air war has not fallen enemy morale would have done what their government wants peace. Assisted by government efforts to ameliorate the worst effects of the bombing through the provision of shelter, first aid and other precautions (and in Germany by a ferocious machine and the police always present), the civilian population in the UK and Germany, while stressed the destruction that swept over them, they held strong despite occasional panic in places like Southampton where shelters were inadequate and local government collapsed.

Indeed in Germany in 1944, despite Allied bombardaarii day and night, military industrial production grew well, a result of innovations Albert Speer, tough and energetic Minister of Weapons of Hitler after 1942 that found a lot of waste and carelessness in industry German.

Historians believe air remained in touch with the staff of the RAF bombing the night air - on Germany's. Suggests that in general the many failed to fully bombing targets and resources could be invested elsewhere, as in the middle east or Far East or the Atlantic battle. Others insist that collateral effects on industries and communications have made Germany a decisive impact on Germany's war potential - without limits military - industrial Germany after 1943 would have been even more impressive. It is less doubt about it, despite huge losses, the accuracy of the U.S. Army Air Force bombing of German industry on the infrastructure, particularly oil and communications and progressive destruction of the forces fighting for Germany's defense had a major impact on the fighting capability Germany. However, when Americans started bombing cities and towns of the Japanese air in 1944 and 1945 appear to have little effect on the people of Japan who continued to fight, until the fall of the atomic bomb and the Soviet declaration of war, they convinced the king and his closest advisers that Japan must surrender themselves to be fully occupied.

 Holocaust

By far the most scary event was deliberate killing of 5 million women, men and children Hebrew deported from Germany, Poland and other countries occupied by Nazi concentration camps.

This was the "Final Solution" to "problem" Jewish. Before the war, persecution of Jews in Germany and later in Austria and Czechoslovakia, took the form of their dismissalfrom work, confiscation of property and custody and various other humiliations as forcing them to wear the Star of David in public.Înainte 1942 German special units killed with indiscriminare Hebrew, Polish and Bolshevik commissars captured Russians in Poland and Russia. In 1942 a conference of German officials unveiled plans for a nearby more "scientific" Holocaust, which included to bring together these people - as well as other target groups like Gypsies and homosexuals - the execution camps, where they were exterminated in rooms gas and then incinerated. In some camps, 10,000 of these unfortunates were gassed each day. It is not known how many Germans and collaborators in the occupied territories were involved in mass murder and coimplicati but clearly was not stopped, it was thought right after the war, to Heinrich Himmler and his entourage and a few civil servants and officials of the German police amount of German population ignorant of what was happening, network seems to have been guilty more than that.
